Agouti Colors
Agouti
Pic Provided By Ratz Realm
No mutations (A/-). Agouti is the "wild type" colour of rats, although bred for a brighter red tone to the colour for show quality. One of the few colours that is improved by carrying recessives, for example an agouti carrying pink or red eye dilute is often a brighter colour than an agouti not carrying any recessives. The exception to this is blue - an agouti rat carrying blue is often a darker and less desirable colour.

Burmese Agouti
Also Known As Wheaton Burmese
Agouti plus one copy of the Burmese gene, plus either two copies of the Himalayan gene, or one copy of the Himalayan gene and one copy of the albino gene (Bubuchch or Bubu chc where Bu is the Burmese locus). The version based on chch is preferred for show. It is possible to breed a version based on albino (Bubucc) but this lacks points. This colour can be bred in various shades, with the darker shades almost resembling cinnamon, selective breeding is necessary for a pale sand body colour and distinct points.
To be a mid sand colour, points to be distinctly darker than body colour. Base coat to be light brown. Belly colour to be pale silvery grey. Eyes black.

Chocolate Agouti
Also Known As Dark Cinnamon, Classic Cinnamon
Agouti with the chocolate gene (A-bb). The resulting colour can be quite difficult to identify if you don't know what you're looking for - basically, it looks like a cinnamon when placed next to an agouti, and like an agouti when placed next to a cinnamon. Because it is very similar to other more established colours, it's not often specifically bred for, and most likely won't be standardised.
Hawthorn-To be a warm reddish-brown colour, evenly ticked with chocolate guard hairs. Medium and shorter hairs to be banded in red. Base fur mid-grey. There shall be an even demarcation between top colour and belly colour with the belly being similar to agouti but lighter with a chocolate tint. Eyes black.
